PBIS in Arkansas

The mission of the A-State PBIS Resource Center (the Center) is to work with organizations to develop, implement, and sustain programs that benefit the community. We work with an extended community. Our goal is to help provide for the intersecting needs of Arkansas State University and local, regional, state, and national organizations. Currently, the Center is the state’s only technical assistance center for PBIS.

In 2011, the A-State PBIS Resource Center began providing training, coaching and support to schools in Arkansas. Since then, support has expanded throughout the state of Arkansas, with more than 140 schools implementing PBIS.

The Center was a main partner in the Arkansas State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) from October of 2015 through October of 2020. Our role was to provide training and support to targeted schools in the implementation of PBIS. Through this grant, the Center also worked with DESE to develop the Arkansas PBIS Training Modules. The Center continues to work with DESE in the current grant, awarded in 2020, in developing micro-credentials for teachers to develop expertise around behavior and classroom management.
